I lived and worked as a excursion / tour guide on Lindeman Island in the Whitsunday Island for a year.

My job was to sit on the beach and take snorkelling and diving tours to the best spot in the world the great barrier reef.

It was an awesome experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Australia it is a must see and one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Australia's Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island sports absolutely stunning super-fine grain white sand, literally squeaky due to 98% silica content and is surrounded by warm, clear green waters with various islands scattered in the distance.

There are no hotels, bars or restaurants on Whitehaven Beach. It is uninhabited, untouch and an awesome natural wonder.

Its well worth the trip out there.

Snorkelling at Reef World

There is only a few options for diving and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef when staying on Lindeman Island.

The journey by boat out to the reef is about 2 hours and can be rough so if you get sea sick make sure to take a tablet for it before hand.

Once out there on the Reef - (Hardy Reef) - you will dock at a pontoon called "Reef World" where you can dive from , snorkel from, take a semi submerisable ride around the reef. There is an underwater observation area and you can also stay out there overnight and spend the night under the stars.

Would recommend this trip to anyone young or old.
