Beautiful Tear Drop

Water fall at Nuwara Eliya
The Island of Sri Lanka or Ceylon, as it was known till 1972, is situated off the south eastern tip of the Indian subcontinent . She possesses tropical beaches, ancient monuments, rain forests, Fantastic waterfalls and many places to delight any person. This little island is big on attractions. Our first impression was how green the island is.It reminded us of kerala and south Cannara in India in every way except sadly there seemed to be an under current of tension with the capital colombo under heavy gaurd and sand bunkers even out side hotels with grimm looking soldeirs with AK-47's .we were warned by our driver not to photograph them-They will first shoot then ask questions!
School Children at Dambulla caves
The people of Sri Lanka have experienced ethnic conflicts and a Tsunami of epic proportions, but still they possess strength and a kindness that is hard to describe. Their small acts -- whether it's a wave , or a chat on cricket was always warm- we even had a jeweller invite us to take shelter from the rain in his shop

I've learned so much from my visit to your page. I particularly enjoyed reading about the Lion's Rock & Dambulla Rock Temple, and I loved the elephants. Great photos throughout, too!
