Circular Quay: SYDNEY-circular quay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Circular Quay is the hub of Sydney Harbour, situated at a small inlet called Sydney Cove, the founding site for Sydney and Australia. It is a stepping-off point for most attractions based around the harbour and an exciting place to be on a warm summer's day. The quay is a vibrant, bustling place with ferries leaving every few minutes to different parts of the harbour, including Manly, Watson .y, Mosman and Taronga Park Zoo. There are great views of the Harbour Bridge, a short distance away.
There is a major railway station at the quay, which is part of the underground City Circle , which skirts around the CBD. Alongside the ferry terminals are a number of small outdoor cafes and the area is a magnet for buskers of every description

    Things To Do: Botanical gardens
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Royal Botanic Gardens, which are just a short walk around the water's edge from the Sydney Opera House, is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful settings you will see anywhere, with the gardens filling an area of land between the harbour and the eastern part of the central business district. The gardens sit on the side of an undulating piece of land and the harbour views from up on the hill are superb. There are large trees with a wonderful shade canvas and this makes the best spot imaginable to stop and have lunch - sitting on the grass and taking in the harbour views.

A walkway skirts around the harbourfront at the lower part of the gardens and is popular for lunchtime walks or jogs. The gardens have more than one million specimens and there is even a hop-on hop-off "train" for the less energetic.

The gardens are an excellent place to escape

    Blue Mountains: Blue Mountains
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Blue Mountains in New South Wales embrases 26 townships in an area of 1433 square kilometres. The townships are situated from 50 to 120 km west of Sydney and are within 1,000 square kilometres of this World Heritage listed National Park.

The Blue Mountains was declared a World Heritage park in November 2000. It was nominated for its outstanding natural values, including the biodiversity of its plant and animal communities, its vegetation, which is dominated by Australia's unique eucalypts, and for the beauty of its natural landscapes.
Take a ride on Skyway, a 720 meter journey 270m above ancient ravines and dazzling waterfalls. Be suspended over Jurassic rainforests as you glide smoothly across the sky.
    Scenic Railway
Ride the steepest incline Railway in the world down to a lush and hidden valley

The 415m descent will lead you through a cliff side tunnel into ancient rainforest.

From here you are free to explore the Scenic Walkway which will guide you through the forest to the Scenic Cableway platform.

The Scenic Railway can carry up to 84 passengers and operates every 10 minutes.

    Jenolan Caves: Jenolan caves
  • Tip Rating:
  • 74km from Katoomba are some of the world's most amazing limestone caves. There are 3 caves open for free viewing with a further 9 accessible via guided tours. For the more adventurous, there are 4 undeveloped caves dedicated for more personal tours that allow you to see these caves as the explorers originally found them. There are approximately 10 tours daily from 10am to 5pm daily Monday to Friday with an evening tour at 8pm Saturday.
The Lucas, Imperial and Chifley Caves are excellent all round tours with a wide variety of features that are also economical in price. The Lucas Cave is the longest of these tours and the one hour Imperial Cave tour is the easiest. The Chifley Cave is noted for its use of coloured lights.

Things To Do: LOFTUS tram Museum
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Museum's operational fleet includes not only an extensive collection of Sydney trams from 1896 to 1952, but also trams from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Ballarat, San Francisco, Nagasaki, Berlin, Munich and Milan, enabling comparisons between the different tramcar designs. A double-deck tram from Hobart and a Brill-built bogie car of 1902 from the Western Australian gold-mining city of Kalgoorlie still have to be restored. The Museum also houses Sydney's last remaining double-deck trolley-bus
The museum is located within the Sutherland Shire in southern Sydney and is adjacent to Loftus Railway Station. The Museum's trams operate over three and half a kilometres of its own tram routes.

Directions: CityRail's suburban services provide a half-hour service to Loftus during the day. The journey takes about 35 minutes from the city. The Museum is right next to Loftus station .

  • Tip Rating:
  • Want to see Australia's unique wildlife in a natural bush setting? At Featherdale, They have gone out of our way to create a unique wildlife experience… within the Sydney metropolitan area!
The wildlife park allows you to get extremely close to the animals. You get to take pictures with koalas, feed kangaroos, and get great pictures of Australian wildlife.

    Chinatown: China town sydney
  • Tip Rating:
  • Sydney's Chinatown is a colourful mixture of asian culture, shopping and cuisine. The area's distinctly oriental architecture, street lanterns and archways confirm it as a showpiece for Australian Chinese culture.
In more recent years Chinatown has extended from the bounds of Dixon, Hay and Sussex Streets to encompass a much larger area bounded by George Street in the east and Darling Harbour in the west. The spatial expansion of Chinatown is complemented by the influx of east asian immigrants bringing with them exotic cooking styles and cuisines. The eateries in Chinatown serve up authentic asian dishes throughout the day until 4am in some cases. The food halls leave a little to be desired with respect to ambience but they make up for their shortcomings through being particularly good for their variety of dishes and exceptionaly reasonable prices.

Things To Do: National maritime museum
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Australian National Maritime Museum has thousands of exhibits depicting Australia's history - from ancient times when Aboriginal people trapped fish and traded with Asian neighbours, right up to the present. Visitors can see what life was like on the convict ships; how Australia "rode on the whale's back"; how its first submarine fought bravely (and lost) in World World I at Gallipoli; what people packed when they sailed to a new life on these shores; why surfboards have become shorter; and more. There are displays, hands-on exhibits, a cinema and the latest museum computer games. Guided tours at no cost.
Visitors can go aboard the HMAS Vampire, the former Royal Australian Navy destroyer. A guided tour shows how the crew lived, worked and relaxed.

Also on display is Australia II, winner of the 1983 America's Cup; relics of Captain Cook's Endeavour; the famous World War II commando boat Krait; a sleek racing cutter of 1888; a Vietnamese refugee boat that made the hazardous sea voyage to Australia and a pearling lugger from Broome, a far north-western seabord town which is now a booming tourist destination.
