We decided to join this tour to Ayutthaya on this visit to Thailand. It's like being on the set of Tomb Raider :p. Lickily our tourist guide spoke good english so he was able to explain the sights to us well. This is where the capital of Thailand used to be & was destroyed because of their war with the Burmese. It was once a luxurious city with lots of Buddhist monasteries. For this trip, we paid $65USD with included transfers form the hotel to ayutthaya, a cruise on the Chao Phraya River via Shangrila cruise and buffet lunch catered by the Shangrila Hotel.

after our tour to Ayutthaya, we took the cruise at the Chao Phraya River back to the city. The cruise took around 1 1/2 hours. We chose the Shangrila cruise boat which inclued a buffet lunch. I really enjoyed this part of our tour because the food was really great. =)

This is the old Grand Palace where the king used to stay. Nothing much to do here just roamed around and took some pictures. I showed the main house, whicj was chinese inspired. We were able to go in but picture taking was not allowed inside.
