Neverending Culture

Cultura máxima

In the United States, there is a small amount of fear associated with travel in Mexico, kidnappings, robbery, etc. When we lived there for seven weeks, there was never a time when we felt in danger or unsafe. The people there are friendly and the food is out of site! No matter what city you are in, you can stop a stranger on the street and ask for directions and they will be more than happy to help you. In addition, they will never (except for Mexico City) expect any sort of reward for helping you. They really enjoy helping people. You're in luck if you meet someone trying to practice their English!

Growing up so close to Mexico, we had certain preconceptions about what our experience would be like, but we were exceptionally surprised at what an amazing country it is.

Undiscovered Terrain

The land is beautiful and somewhat untouched in some areas- definitely worth the trip to explore and meet the locals. You don't have to go far to experience deserts, mountains, beaches, and jungles. There are many hidden places waiting to be explored! As long as you learn the buses, they're the best way to travel throughout the country- they're cheap, reliable, and frequent.

Comida Exquisito!

The food is amazing- every region has its specialty. In Puebla, its Chiles en Nogada, a fried chile stuffed with meat, raisins, almonds, with a walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds- HEAVEN! Try the street food, but not the tap water. On the streets you can find tamales, tacos, tortas, tostadas, chapulines- depending on the region.

Pros:"Friendly people, excellent food, cheap travel"
Cons:"No running drinking water! Political unrest, depending on the state"
In A Nutshell:"You'll be addicted on your first trip- watch out!"
