Mauban Travel Guide: 25 reviews and 73 photos
Mauban is the place where I was born, raised, schooled - my hometown!
The town of Mauban is located at the foot of Sierra Madre Mountains, beside the mouth of Maapon River, overlooking Lamon Bay and can be found at coordinates 14° 11' 28" North, 121° 43' 52" East.
Mauban is a first class municipality in the province of Quezon and composed of 40 barangays (six of them are part of the town proper).
Founded by the Franciscans on 1583 in Pinagbayanan (now Luya-luya). Transferred to Balay-balay to avoid the Moro pirates. Re-transferred on 1678 to Sulida. The present site, named Mauban after Gat Uban, the defender of the town from the Moros. The Katipunan branch was established at Barrio San Miguel, 1896; the water reservoir, 1810; the pier 1930; and the seawall, 1939. Invaded by the Japanese forces, December 24, 1941; and was freed by the American forces, 1945.
One of the noted sons of Mauban!
Born in Mauban, Quezon on May 9,1916. A scholar priest and historian. Received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1951. Author of: The Jesuits in the Philippines, 1581-1768; Readings in Philippine History; Background of Nationalism; Asia and the Philippines and other essays. Nice to know you also have a Calvary Hill with view of the city...we also went to one in Tuguegarao, my Mom's hometown. Nice tips from Mauban and would love to get a jumping picture from there! I can see the red KALIHIM bread in the bakery, hehehe
