This place was paradise. Definitely six stars. We were there for our honeymoon - therefore it was all inclusive. The resort should not be confused with an older Intercontinental Moana resort that is across the lagoon. The Thallasso was built in May 2006 and the spa opened in Sept 2006. We were there in early October 2006 so the place seemed untouched. Our overwater bungalow was bigger than my old apt in Manhattan! It had all the upgraded amenities such as a rain shower and soaking tub in the bathroom, a huge king bed facing a picture window that overlooked the lagoon and Mt. Otemanhu (we woke up everymorning looking at this wonderful sight!), an espresso machine, 2 flat screens and a bi-level veranda/diving deck. We had everything we needed. No reason to leave the bungalow. We could even feed the fish from our living room as the coffetable opened up to the lagoon bottom. The 2 restaurants on the resort were 5 star quality. Splash and Reef had better food than any other restuarant on the island. We tried Bloody Marys, but we would have rather stayed at the resort. There is an infinity pool that overlooks the lagoon - its tranquil. In fact the whole resort is built like it was an entire spa. The actual Thallasoo spa is incredible. I have seen nothing like it. It has far eastern influences and the water used in the treatments has been welled from 900 meters below the sea level and is extremely cold and pure. In fact, the air conditioners are powered by this water. Its a "green" resort. We left for a bit to rent a boat and go diving and snorkeling at the coral gardens, but quickly returned to be pampered at the Intercontinental. If you are honeymooning and are just looking to relax, this is place to be. It is the best of the best!!
