Resided full-time in Punta Gorda for 15 years before relocating to Tennessee for personal reasons. Situated on Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River, outdoor activities are available year-round including boating, fishing, golf, tennis, walking, bicycling, wildlife sighting. There are many community events such as the annual Block Party, Thursday night Guitar Army fest in Gilchrist Park, art and culture at the Visual Arts Center, annual International Air Show.
The growth and stature of Punta Gorda since 2004's hurricane Charley has provided major improvement in local services and amenities. New restaurants, shops, marinas, homes, condos are boosting the attractiveness and economy of the area.
Punta Gorda's small town ambience, favorable year-round climate, abundance of recreational and business opportunities, sunsets on Charlotte Harbor, and a wonderful community of friendly people are good reasons to live in or visit this piece of paradise in Southwest Florida.
Within just a few miles of each other in Punta Gorda are fine restaurants serving a variety of fare at reasonable prices... more travel advice
