Korfball is a game for everyone. Men and women of all ages can play. The first thing you need is a pitch (court), divided into two halves called zones. Add two korfball posts (3.5m), two baskets, one ball and two teams of eight players: two men and two women of each team in each zone (attack and defence). With one referee the game is ready to start. The game is fairly simple. You score when you throw the ball through the other team's basket. After two goals the teams change zones: the defenders become attackers and attackers defenders. Birmingham City have two teams : the first team plays in the Central England Korfball League and the second team in the West Midlands Korfball League.

Birmingham City are probably number two in terms of support within Brum. They play their home games at St. Andrews, just off the ring road - about 1mile from the city centre. The ground is of a great standard and large by Championship standards. I saw my team Leeds lose here this season 1-0.

Aston Villa are the biggest club in Birmingham with the biggest support, biggest stadium and most prestigious history. The team famously won the European Cup in 1982. They play at Villa Park, which is visible from the M6 motorway.

West Bromwich are the third club of Birmingham playing at the Hawthorns. Their fiercest rivals are Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their stadium and support is large, although not as big as Birmingham or Villa

Wolverhampton Wanderers play at the Molineux in Wolverhampton. Their support is mainly from the Wolverhampton area. They are about the same size as West Brom, but have a more significant history being one of the founding members of the original Football League. Leeds also lost to Wolves 1-0 this season :(

Edgbaston is the home of Warwickshire County Cricket team. It is also host to many England test matches. England usually play well at this ground, so if you're an away supporter you may be better off watching your team at Lord's ;)

Sports Travel: A night at the dogs

I went with people from work for a night at the dogs in Hall Green. There was a group of 10 or so of us so it was a good laugh, drinking and having the odd bet. For £7 you get entry to the track, a drinks voucher and £2 betting voucher. All in all I had a good evening, drinking more than i should have and losing £5 - but i would advise a night at the dogs as a group activity rather than an individual activity.
