"Passing through Pisa" Pisa by Maryimelda

We left Venice at the crack of dawn on the Eurostar train and after a quick change in Florence, we arrived in Pisa. Like an idiot, I didn't even bother to enquire if there was a left luggage area or not, so we lugged our baggage with us and caught a taxi to the Field of Miracles. Of course I found out when it was too late that indeed there was a facility for left luggage at the station. Billy had every intention of climbing the Tower, but unfortunately, the next climb was not timed till way after our train was to leave for Rome, so we had to settle for just wandering around this amazing area.

We did get to have a really good look around the cathedral however, so it was well worth the effort.

Back at the Train Station, we had time for a quick lunch in the cafe in the Station, which was fine for the price. From memory, I think we had pasta and salad (probably the daily special) and coffee for a very reasonable price.

I know this sounds like a box ticking exercise, but as I often say, when people tell me that you need xxx amount of time in a certain place to see it all, "anytime, no matter how short, is better than no time at all". This was the only way, Billy was going to see the Leaning Tower, so we did it. Bottom line is that he loved it. What more can I say?

• Pros:It's an easy place to drop into for a brief visit.
• Cons:It would be good to have more climbing times for the Tower.
• In a nutshell:Definitely a "must see" for anyone passing through the area.
