My fav icecream in town! and other Amsterdam, Netherlands Restaurant Reviews

Restaurant Name: Van der Linde

You can buy food everywhere, anytime but i want to tell you about an almost secret icecreamshop. There are the normal ones like Haagen Daz (Leidsesquare, Kalvertoren), Ben & Jerry's (Leidsestraat), Hot & Cold (Rokin, Leidsestraat) sells also nice icecreams. But there is one very small shop on the Nieuwendijk called Van der Linde which sells icecreams made off whipped cream (sugared off course, no german notions here) which is frozen slightly. It's wonderfull soft and creamy.

Not for the people thinking about diets and slim waists!

Favorite Dish: Icecream of course but it does sell cookies too

Simple, check what you want to eat, click and choose your place. Or, i am stayin in Leidsesquare area, where is that one italian place that serves real italian food.

Site provides links to local websites and phonenumbers if you need to make reservations. Please do when you want to avoid dissappointments. No need to make reservations at the "touristy" places but for other restaurants it is worth the effort.

Restaurant Name: Stubbe´s haring

Stubbe is a street vendor/stand in Amsterdam which sells the best raw herring in town so they say.
Eat herring with onions, yummie!

Restaurant Name: Belgian and French Restaurants / Bistro

Its a pleasant looking restaurant with lots of brown wood. There is an "upstairs" on two sides of this restaurant.
Nice card with plenty of choices. They have set menus and you can make your choice randomly.

Restaurant Name: La Margarita

It feels, looks and sounds like you are in the Caribean. Only not the temperature coz the airconditioning made it on the cool side.

Favorite Dish: All dishes are a mixture of spicy and sweet tastes which I quite liked.
My favorite dish is the starter papaya with smoked salmon. It is like the salmon is extra salty combined with this sweet fruit.

Restaurant Name: Eetkamer van de Jordaan

We went to this restaurant because PJ and MariaJoy had been walking around Amsterdam earlier that day and i had invited myself for dinner.
The restaurant is located in the Jordaan as the name states, its near the Noordermarkt. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had generous sized tables for a change. I get so so tired of this places where you can eat from each others plate so small as the tables are.

Favorite Dish: As a main course I had the Italian brochette, pieces of meat on a stick. They were grilled in italian herbs. With it came a portion of spiced risotto and a bunch of grilled cherry tomatoes. Tasted very good!
Maria was amazed by the side dishes that came on the table, peas, carrots, salad and2 types of potatoes, she asked if we had ordered them. Nope we hadnt, it was still normal here to serve side dishes.

As dessert I had white choclate mousse, kiwi/apple icecream with whipped cream. The mousse had choc pieces in it, very nice I must add.

Restaurant Name: Belgian and French Restaurants / Bistro

Once again De eetkamer van de Jordaan was the setting for a VT mini meeting. This time I greeted my friend Jo(104) and her friend Rich. Also PJ and Swanet joined for this dinner.
It was a great pleasure to see Jo again and catch up with affairs from VT and outside of course.
