Welkom in Amsterdam

I live nearby Amsterdam between cows, mills, green flat land, where the air is fresh and where you can also find tulips. (now half april they start to flower, they will be gone within 3 weeks) The place recently was placed on the world heritage list from Unesco so it must be special. The fact why it was placed on the list can only be viewed from the sky so don't forget to look down when approaching our national airport.

Amsterdam for me is a place to work. So when i see you strolling around Central Station i sometimes get jealous or angry because you are walking in my way, depending on my state off mind. Sorry for that. But i have to go to work and you don't. It aches sometimes certainly now when it's getting warmer, the sun shines and i want to be outside as well.

I hope you will enjoy your stay, don't get robbed, do buy a parkingticket (police is very quick with wheelclams), watch out for the tram (the rinkling will tell you, you have to get out off the way)!
Schreierstoren
This building is a something i always see when i go to Amsterdam. It is the "Schreierstoren" at the Prins Hendrikkade (across CS). It houses a cafe now but it was part of the walls that surrouned the city. Story goes that its name comes from the weeping women who waved their men farewell who went to sea. (weeping is schreien, old fashioned dutch)
Amstel
One last reminder, please please take care of your belongings!! Certainly in the trams, and even more when they are crowded. Pickpockets are active there and they spot the tourists like they are wearing a big sign, making you an easy target. Store your wallet deep in your bag and leave passport at the hotel.

Hello Ingrid! My son is going to Amsterdam early next year together with his schoolmates. I will also take this opportunity to re-visit Amsterdam on my own. Thanks for the tips!
