I lived in Zimbabwe for 2.5 years and had a chance to travel around the country on for work and for pleasure. I stayed in local hostels as well as highly-rated hotels. I ate in dives and in restaurants with maitre d's. I took local "chicken bus" transport and private tour vehicles.

Zimbabwe is a beautiful and majestic country that is currently beset with political and economic difficulties. There are sites and things to do for people of all interests: ruins of civilizations more than 1000 years old, incredible safaris, all manner of water activities - boating, fishing, white-water rafting, etc., cultural activities, Zimbabwean or Shona art, and an active music scene.
