Landed safely in Ujungpandang. Now its called Makasar. The Merpati flight was smooth to moderate. The rough ride was said around the air space, in which a Lions Air Boeing 737 was lost about a year a ago. It did turned your tummy a bit though.
The picture was not the dove that I took off with.
This small island is populated by about 300 inhabitants with the rarest of amenities. Fishing is their main livelihood, with their fisherman husbands and brothers leaving their homes for a week or two on a manmade stilt-houses (bagan) further away from their homes, to find the elusive fishes.
I did spend 2 nights here. It was quite an experience having to cope with everything less or nothing at all. I wonder, how the islanders are coping with their lives ...
- Cons:Not the cleaniest of indonesian town
- In a nutshell:Like to revisit
