Killybegs, a gem waiting to be discovered!

Killybegs, the fishing capital of Ireland boasts 2 piers in the centre of the town which hosts a fleet of beautifully coloured fishing boats. Unlike other towns Killybegs looks out onto it's well sheltered harbour and offers the visitor the feeling of having arrived in a unique Irish town. The town is well serviced with 2 hotels and several good quality b&bs. There is also a good hostel in the town centre. Outside the town beside the old Roshine School house there is a well serviced motorvan park with fantastic views of the lighthouse and Donegal bay. There is a well serviced tourist office on the shore road opposite Swan's net factory.

Gourmet Capital of the North West.

Killybegs is home to the ever sucessful tourism college that produces international award winning chefs every year, many who have remained working and living in the area, thus explaining the abundance of restaurants. Killybegs in conjunction with the flavour of Tyrone have produced the little black book of recipes, downloadable from www.killybegs.ie under the Tyrone and Killybegs good food initiative.

Because of it's association with the sea the local resturants offer a huge choice of seafood. Donegal lamb has a unique taste given it's natural leaneness and also features a lot on menus.
