Sipalay Travel Guide: 39 reviews and 100 photos
I got up Thursday & decided to go to Sipalay for some relaxation & snorkeling for the next 3 days. The whole Thursday was spent in the internet searching where to stay, what to do, where to eat, what to expect, transportation schedules, & so much more.
Planning was quite frustrating because i couldn't find a detailed map of the City of Sipalay so i resorted to calling a lot of pension houses around Sipalay to ask how far each destination is from the city & the mode of transportation to every destination so i could make a more detailed itinerary.
Finally, i had come up with a rough itinerary for our 4 days & 3 nights to be divided among the Sugar Beach/Langub, Punta Ballo, Tinagong Dagat, the City proper & travel time.
My husband & I left Iloilo City at 6:30 AM & arrived at Sipalay at 3PM, after a 30-minute delay for changing tires at Brgy. Bulata.
Our First stop was the Tourism Information Center where we met Joemer (+63 905-7257844) who had been very helpful. He introduced us to our tricycle driver Adonis (+63 926-6852145) who delivered us to Nauhang River at Brgy. Nauhang, our jump-off point in going to the Sugar Beach. July, a High School boy, "paddled" us across the river to the Sugar Beach.
The sand's not white but the water surely was so clear & this area is so secluded that the whole stretch looks like our own private beach. We checked-in at Takatuka Lodge (+63 920-2309174) where we enjoyed so much our cave-inspired room.
The next day we moved to the City proper area, this time by boat owned by Marlon & JC (+63 908-5285684) & checked-in at Langub Pension (+63 918-5738952) in front of the city's Plaza.
In the afternoon of our 2nd day we visited the white-sand Punta Ballo beach, but were disappointed that it was a bit dirty. My husband tried snorkeling but was also disappointed so we decided to go back to the City, contacted Joemer to help us find a boat to do the island-hopping & snorkeling somewhere else the next day.
We did snorkeling most of the morning along the Campomanes Bay, and the experience may have been super amazing for first timers, but we've been to Apo Island & Boracay in the early 90's so i guess the experience was just nice (at least for us).
In the afternoon we visited Tinagong Dagat & enjoyed watching the kids showing off their diving skills.
Sugar Beach: 1 liter of water for P50-60 P190-250/menu on the average (i guess good for 1-2 Filipinos stomach) ... more travel advice
