Phuket - Patong Beach

by missblonde - last update: Jan 29, 2007

Phuket was a fun place and we always had something to do. Whether it was shopping at the stalls along the main roads, eating out at a low-priced (but high quality) restaraunt, or relaxing on Patong Beach, Phuket was always a fun and exciting place to be.
Relax on Patong Beach!

Patong Beach

A really lovely beach, packed with people sunbaking under umbrellas and on banana lounges, jet skis, parasailing oppurtunities and Thai people selling food, clothes and coconut oil.
Get a massage on the beach, under the shade! How relaxing :)
The coconut oil is the sweetest smell I have ever smelt! The small bottles are 100 baht, and it is so pure! Such a small price considering in Australia we sell them for $10.
You pay for every lounge you want to use, but its worth it, as you have all day and you can get serious with sunbaking! Its roughly $3.50 I think!
The Andaman Water Park is situated in the water, about half way along the beach, providing blow-up equipment for people of all ages to play on. A whole day costs about 400 baht, but make sure you pack on the sunscreen!!!!
Go parasailing for 700 baht! Or try your luck on a banana boat for 300 baht.
Alex eating at Banana Leaf

Restaraunts

Thai food is usually priced between 90 - 120 baht, and is extremely yummy. I noticed lots of the food is spicy, but I always took out the chilli's!
Places we ate at and enjoyed were: Papaya, Best, BBQ Hut, Tipsy Prawn, Bavaria, Banana Leaf and Promthep Cape Restaraunt (I am sorry but I cannot remember all the places!)
Cocktails were usually around 120 baht and I just tried my luck, ordering whatever I saw on the list, and trying out all sorts of concoctions. My favourites were Phuket Paradise, Phuket Sunset, Sexy Women and a Refreshing.
Lots of places have a tax that adds up to 17% and I tended to avoid these places, as I just wanted some cheap, good food! On a students budget...haha.
