Barcelona is a city with a certain character which cannot be found easily anywhere else in the world. The vibe, art, architecture etc is so unique to this city.
I recently (Sept 2008) visited this wonderful city for a third time - and - I would like to return to Barcelona anytime.
The city manages to mix modern and old very successfully. It is not just new vs old, but you also find representation of many time periods.
The La Rambla might be touristy and well known for pickpockets, but it is such an essential part of Barcelona. Walking down La Rambla from Plaça de Catalunya to the harbour remains one of the nicest things for me to do in Barcelona.
For me it is a “daring” city – it is not afraid to try the extra-ordinary – and it works! |
