I live in South Africa, a country at the Southern tip of Africa.
South Africa is a place of great diversity - a whole world in one country "The Rainbow Nation". Despite a problematic and not so good history, it is still my favourite place in the world.
Some of the highlights for a visitor to South Africa includes Cape Town (the most cosmopolitan and popular city), The Kruger Park (a great place to spend a week or more), The Garden Route and many more.
South Africa is divided into 9 provinces and each province has something completely different to offer.
Feel free to ask as me many questions about South Africa as you like.
I have recently posted a South Africa page.
To travel has become my hobby for the past few years. I have now visited India 8 times, which is a country I do love a lot. The Middle East and North Africa are other favourites of mine.
I try to travel as much as possible - it is a great hobby.
After my first visit to India, I fell in love with this wonderful country. There is so much to do and to see: the diversity is amazing. The people, food, culture all make India a wonderful place to visit. I try to visit India once a year, and did for the past 8 years.
The Middle East must be another favourite of mine. What is outstanding, is the hospitality and friendliness of the people. There is such bad misconceptions about the Middle East. Syria and Jordan were outstanding. I think the Jordanians ans Syrians must be of the nicest people on this planet.
I have been to many wonderful countries in Europe. Paris is most probably the most wonderful city in the world.
The past few years I traveled yo South East Asia more often. Luang Prabang (Laos) must be one of the highlights of this region for me. I just returned from a short visit to Myanmar (Burma).
During this year, I will visit Sri Lanka for the 3rd time, as well as Istanbul.
Cape Town is most probably the city I have visited most. It is a city with a cosmopolitan feel, natural beauty, vibrant and a lot to see and do.
When I visited Prague the first time, I really thought that it is the most beautiful city I ever been to.
Kathmandu is so different to any other city I ever visited. It is a city with wonderful people and culture.
There is no other city like Paris. It is so stylish and beautiful. I will always go back to this beautiful city. New York is a city with attitude (positive). So vibrant, so many icons and busy. It is definitely one of the cities of the world.
Istanbul with it's mosques, bazaars, Turkish baths and unique geography is another city I won't visiting again and again. Although not he most beautiful city, Mumbai is a big favourite of mine. It is a modern, massive vibrant mega city. Despite this, ancient traditions are still alive and well and part of everyday life.
For me, Barcelona is one of the nicest European cities. The architecture, shopping, and food is wonderful. Buenos Aires surprised me with its uniqueness. It is very European, but also Argentinian at the same time.
Amsterdam was the very first European city I visited and I will always like this city. As we have a strong Dutch heritage, it makes it quite special for me as a South African.
Antwerp and Amman are most probably the friendliest cities. I have to mention the two wonderful Syrian cities, Damascus and Aleppo.
There is no place like Cochin (Kochi) in Kerala. I do feel this is a place everyone should try to visit at least once in their life.
Toronto, so clean, courteous and organised left a great impression on me. .
I like Tunis. It might not be the most beautiful in Tunisia, but I love the souk, coffee shops, the people and the food.
The most laid-back place I have ever been to must be Luang Prabang. I hope to return to this amazing place soon.
I enjoyed most countries I visited.
My favourite, favourite country is India. It is the country I visited most often up to know, and cannot think that I will ever become tired of this amazing place.
I have not written many pages during 2011, and do hope to have the time this year to catch up and do so!
Visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra, India
Watching a Tango Show in Buenos Aires
Traveling through Burgundy, France with good friends of mine
Kerala, South India
Visiting Cape Town every now and then
The first few hours after arriving in NYC - amazing!
The Aya Sofia in Istanbul
Pokhara in Nepal!
Petra in Jordan.
Victoria Falls during April
The great friends I made in Sri Lanka
The wonderful peace and quiet of Luang Prabang
There are many more, the list can be endless, but these are the ones that came up in my mind first!
I started on a few picture albums. They will obviously change with time.
