Singapore is a fine city...

by joleson - last update: Feb 10, 2007

Clean, simple, beauty

Merlion of Singapore
Singapore after a fine rain was one of the most clean places on earth. I'm sure you could eat off the streets. After spending a Sunday afternoon on a boat ride and taking pictures with the Merlion, I was absolutely impressed by this gem.

I saw T-shirts that said Singapore is a fine city listing off some of the more stringent laws like no spitting, no chewing gum, and the death penalty for dealing drugs.

Friendly People

In the short time I was in Singapore, I met a nice Vietnamese young man who spent the afternoon with me. It's really a melting pot of cultures. English was the main language, but I heard more than a dozen languages on the subway system which again was one of the cleaner more organzied I've ever been on.

Modern mixed with history

The modern building surrounding the river was beautiful and safe to walk around. I was impressed by the orderliness of the city and the cleanliness everywhere I went.

I have to say, the Singapore airport is my favorite airport in the world. I used the massage feet and leg chairs, and free internet access in the airport. They have a hotel right in the airport, it was booked so I found another area where you can rest or get a massage. I was able to lay down for a few hours and catch some zzz's. No where else do I konw where you can get so much.
