Bangkok Land of Buddahs

In the City - the temples

From the Airport to my hotel, from the beginning I had to pull out my barganing skills and trust no one. It was going to be a fun challenge. I love Thailand, I've wanted to go there most of my life. Seeing pictures really made me SUPER excited to go.

Before I left I got a hotel on Khao San Road www.khaosanroad.com and stayed at Viengtai hotel. I wasn't there during any bug season or anything so I didn't see many bugs the whole time I was there. I can't complain about my hotel, but I do recommend the location. I really felt like even though I didn't have a car it was cake to get anywhere I wanted to go.

The first morning I was there I caught a tuk tuk to go see the Wats (temples)

I later found out, if you want to see the real Thailand, you should go to Chang Mai or south outside of Phuket (not phuket itself which is touristy).

I did fulfill my dreams for a Thailand adventure. The Coup started a week after I left, I almost bought a yellow T-shirt while I was there (support for the king)
On the way to the floating market in a longboat.

Outside the city - Rose Garden & Floating Markets

On day 2 I decided to take a tour. There were an assortment to choose from. All of them seemed to leave about 8am from the hotel lobby to go to the floating markets. There were some package deals, so I went with the floating markets with the longboat ride, the cobra show, and rose garden which included traditional dancing and elephant ride (additional cost).

The floating market unfortunately really has become a tourist trap, but I still enjoyed it, even though I felt like I was paying too much to ride in the wooden boat. I tried to ignore the cost and enjoyed it.

The cobra show, which I thought was going to be cheesy was pretty cool. The guys were amazing, the cobra vs. mongoose fight was something I knew I wouldn't see anywhere in north america. That was awesome! Sorry PETA, animals were harmed, but nothing that they wouldn't heal from.
