Saranac Lake, town and body of water by the same name.
On route 3 in the Adirondack Mountains, Upstate New York,
25 miles east of Tupper Lake, 10 miles west of Lake Placid (of Winter Olympics fame), just west of route 86.

The route 3 area has many great boating, fishing, hiking, viewing lakes:
Union Falls, Tupper, Saranac, Placid, Loon, Silver, Rainbow.
Each of these have parks and pull-offs where you can stop to have a picnic or sit on a bench and watch the water fowl. The water is clear and the air is clean.
