We were in Sturbridge to visit Old Sturbridge Village which is just west of the town. But we had some time to spend riding through Sturbridge itself. There are lots of farm land and farm markets. The town achitecture is early 20th century, rustic is probably the best adjective. There were flower venders and a garden show, yard sales and some large modern homes. The people were friendly but you could tell they knew we were just tourists. We took mostly slide-film so i had to supplement stock pictures for the things we saw in the VT tips. wikipedia info: 8000 permanent residents and thousands of tourists Household income is $55000 official website is: http://www.town.sturbridge.ma.us/ |

| | interesting facts Sturbridge has no consistent image as seen in its symbols. Some agencies look to the patriotic aspect that was a strength in the start of Sturbridge. Other agencies look to the commercial aspects important to the growth of the area. The police department badge is an example of the former, with its parading patriot. The city seal is an example of the latter, with its emphasis on peace with the natives and growth of its mining industry.
The town is named after Stourbridge, England |
