Blueberry Festival

It is called the Blueberry Festival and it is held in mid-June in Callahan, FL. But it is just an excuse to get together and enjoy some great cooking. Yes they have blueberries and pies and muffins and pancakes, but they have entertainment (fiddlers and cloggers) and BBQ beef and pulled pork and greasy fries. For the kids there is a water slide for the week end and face painters and pony rides. For the adults there are always some politicians and TV crews, arts/crafts tents and the dunking pond.

If you are in the area next June, stop by and have a great country time.

County Fair (Northeast Florida Fair Days)

The Fair in Nassau County, FL is held annually in Callahan, FL in mid-to-late October.
It is a mix of 4H with Rodeo with arts/crafts show with school band concert, all stirred slowly and served with hots and hamburgers and cotton candy. There are jam and pie contests where you can sample and buy some of the wares. There is a petting zoo area for the kids. Livestock are shown and judged and ribbons awarded. It is fine family get-together in a great country atmosphere.
