New York State varmint I am, born and bred.
This state has a little bit of everything: river valleys, mountains (or as my Colorado friends call them, "little hills"), forests, big cities, little towns,sun, snow,Spring, Fall, but no deserts.
And the weather in Upstate is pretty much "wait-a-bit-it'll-change".
I have been to other states, other countries, other continents and except for a few instances (like the jungles of southeast asia or the deserts of Egypt) most places are just about the same.
So when we travel, I don't think of it as leaving home and coming back again but more like just going to a different room in a big house.

The term "The Big Apple" was first used by John J. Fitz Gerald in the 1920s in the New York Morning Telegraph newspaper in reference to the New York horse-racing venue. The name caught on and was repeated in other newspaper articles until it became a popular phrase for New York City.
