"Campania region, Italy" Campania by davecallahan

About 6 million people live in 13.6 square kilometers, in southwestern Italy and they call the region Campania. It is the homeland of my grandparents.

The name Campania means countryside and is in reference to the beautiful scenery among the hills and dales of this region.
There are five provinces in Campania: Avellino, Benevento, Caserta, Naples (Napoli), and Salerno and my grandparents come from Napoli.
It is also the birthplace of pizza.

Major tourist attractions are the Pompeii and Herculaneum ruins, the Cumae Caves, the temple at Paestum, the Vesuvius volcano, the Amalfi Coast, and the island of Capri. Any one of those, makes the trip to this beautiful country worth the flight.
