Why visit??
I like to think of Saransk as a little secret within Russia, no tourists (or very little) pay a visit, as it not a major city! I moved from Saransk to Moscow at 2 years old, I don't visit Saransk often, simply because I do not like it! It's poor and the people they are not so happy like Muscovites.
The people in Saransk work hard I do not deny it but for me, no there is nothing here.
I would say to only visit Saransk if you HAD to or you wanted for some bizzare reasons!
