The town itself is very small and there is no real grocery store. There was a small shop and we got quite a few things there. We stayed at a self catering house and did not rent a car. The town of Athenry is about 15 minutes away (driving) and has a train. The cab cost us 15euro to go there. The town is a little remote if you don't have a vehicle, when we were there someone died and everyone went to the funeral, including the cabbies and we were stranded for the whole day. We couldn't get a hold of any taxis in the area. The town itself was very nice.
