I'm 22 years old and have just graduated from a degree in graphic design & communication. I start work in August but until then I have some trips planned. I'm just back from Nice (Cannes, Monaco & Ventimiglia) and I'm off to visit family in Abu Dhabi in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of dreams for the future and the main one is to see more beautiful countries. I think I'm lucky to have grown up surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Northern Ireland.
Instead of breaking my N.Irish travel pages into cities, I've created one big travel page covering the many parts I've visited. None of the cities here are expansive (Belfast is the largest) and therefore I think you're best to travel around many cities on your visit here. I'd love to answer your questions or hear your comments so please do drop me a line anytime- it would be great to hear from you!
My boyfriend and I are hoping to go away this June before my graduation and prior to be starting my first full time job. We're currently looking at locations in Europe and Morocco due to the low flight prices. Any other suggestions?? We'll be travelling from N.Ireland and would love to relax on an average budget while having a bit of an adventure too! We prefer not to go on standard beach holidays and like to explore :)
Belfast is exciting these days, it's been totally re-vitalised. My tips for here are covered on my N.Ireland pages.
Belfast has named in quarters now, there's the cathedral quarter, housing the beautiful St Anne's cathedral, the queens quarter (where Queens university is) ... check out my Belfast page for more details on these. It's constantly being added to!
It's great for shopping too with the new multimillion pound shopping centre, victoria square... fantastic for designer labels but there's also Urban outfitters, H & M, river island and topshop for the less expensive buys! There's a more extensive description of shopping on my travel pages.
Don't Get up as soon as the plane hits the ground. The doors won’t open any quicker, you will end up standing up, trying to balance your hand luggage, looking like a fool which sucking in your tummy to allow some sweaty fellow traveler to do the same ritual you’ve just completed.
If you want to meet some new, interesting fellow travellers, ditch those earphones. Sitting with your ipod in your ears stops conversation. It'd surprise you the people you can meet even coming from work!
Never raise your voice in an attempt to make people understand you. Learn some words in the language or learn how to pronounce them ;)
Remember to get some photos with yourself in them, scenery is all very nice and so are your fellow travellers but someday, your kids and grandkids will want to see their crazy relative in their backpacking days!
If you're feeling tired at the end of your holiday but still have things you really want to see, make the effort to see them. You can always energise yourself when you get home & you'll have many more stories to tell and things to look back on and smile.
