Ready and willing to discover the world

by arty_girl - last update: Feb 13, 2009

I'm a 20 year old and I'm at university training for a degree in design & visual communication. One day I want to have a career in design and advertising but I want to embrace the world and see as much of it as possible during my time on earth! I'm a 'people person', have lots of energy and I'm always wanting to learn something new.
Right now I need to work out where to go for my internship next year. I can do it anywhere in the world, the only catch is that I don't know where. It's scary but I really need to start the ball rolling. I'll update you :)

So far...

I've been to:
Ireland
Engand
France
Spain
Italy
Holland

Not bad going considering I've done most of that within the past few years... hooray!

Travel dreams:

Short term goals:

Scotland! I've never been and really want to go. I have an ancestor who I think is buried in Glasgow, would quite like to find where they lived.

Maybe Germany or the the czech republic this summer? Not yet decided!

In the future:
America & Canada
Backpack around europe
South America

Belfast

Belfast is pretty exciting these days, it's been totally re-vitalised. I do have a Belfast page but most people can't see it because of a glitch on VT.. Ive been sending emails so hopefully you'll all be able to search it soon! *sigh* haha

Belfast has named in quarters now, there's the cathedral quarter, housing the beautiful st anne's cathedral, the queens quarter (where Queens university is) ... check out my Belfast page for more details on these. It's constantly being added to!

It's great for shopping too with the new multimillion pound shopping centre, victoria square... fantastic for designer labels but there's also Urban outfitters, H & M, river island and topshop for the less expensive buys!

Things travellers should bear in mind

Don't Get up as soon as the plane hits the ground. The doors won’t open any quicker, you will end up standing up, trying to balance your hand luggage, looking like a fool which sucking in your tummy to allow some sweaty fellow traveler to do the same ritual you’ve just completed.

If you want to meet some new, interesting fellow travellers, ditch those earphones. Sitting with your ipod in your ears stops conversation. It'd surprise you the people you can meet even coming from work!

Never raise your voice in an attempt to make people understand you. Learn some words in the language or learn how to pronounce them ;)

Remember to get some photos with yourself in them, scenery is all very nice and so are your fellow travellers but someday, your kids and grandkids will want to see their crazy relative in their backpacking days!

(To be continued...)

Hi Tierna! I stayed at Best Western Hotel del Teatre Auditori: I had an unpleasant experience (the guys in the room next to mine spoke aloud until very late), so I don't recommend it to anyone. If I go there again, I'll have to choose a different hotel.
