It was a hot summer day and my husband and I decided we wanted to do something different. I had heard that tubbing down the Elora Gorge was a nice way to spend the day.
We packed up the truck and off we went to start our 2 hour drive to this beautiful Natural Wonder.
When we arrived there was a long line up to rent the tubes for the day. By the time we got to the counter they didn't have any left. Luckily just up the street there is a garage that sells them.
Once we got our tubes and got back we started our walk down to the beggining of the lazy river as I like to call it.
The entry point has the biggest rapids to play in. They were pretty fun and you could swim hard right after going through them and do them again if you want.
It probably takes about 1.5 hours to float down the rest of the river. Most of the way it was only ankle deep but still beautiful and relaxing none the less.
At the end of the river you jump out and you can either walk back up or take a shuttle bus that picks everyone up.
There is a really nice campground there and a couple of nice beaches as well. Which is where we had lunch. We did the river a couple of more times and then decided to head into town for supper.
We had dinner at a really nice restaurant on the main intersection out on the patio of course.
We walked the dowtown streets, visited the mill hotel and other really pretty old buildings and churches.
All in all we were expecting a few more bigger rapids but the day turned out beautiful.
- Pros:Great little town with alot of charm
- Cons:Rapids weren't quite as exciting as we would have liked.
- In a nutshell:Charming small town
