Hi and welcome here in Bockenem.Bockenem is located ca. 75km in the south of Hannover, in the near of the Harz Mountain. If you use the Motorway A7 please leave it at the exit number 65 and now you are here in town. It`s just a little Town with 5000 Inhabitants. A lot of small villages around, with some interesting things. Maybe Upstedt with a very old tree(more than 1000 Years), And so on... Bockenem is also a great starting point to see the Harz Mountain. You also can start some interesting Daytrips from here like:Hildesheim,Goslar,WernigerodeHannover, Braunschweig,Göttingen,Kassel,Bremen,Hamburg... If you like make a trip to the Northsea or the Baltic sea. You also can go to the former Borderline to the GDR, and if you like make a trip to the Brocken(Highest Mountain in the Harz). Bockenem is also a member of the "Hanse" And at the 17.and 18. of May we have a festival in Town called the first"Bockenemer Hansetage" Maybe we see us here. For more infos about the Hanse visit there webside under www.hanse.org
And if you have questions, please drop me a line and ask!!!

I'll have to put this on my list ;) | Ekaterinburg Mon May 21, 2007 17:16 UTC Peter, very interesting to read about George Baselitz -didn't know he came from your town. Bockenhem looks so beautiful and those half-timbered houses remind me of B. Lauterberg. Lovely page with gorgeous photos:)) |
