The house is a museum dedicated to Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who lived secretly in this house with her family during World War II. As well as the preservation of the hiding place, and an exhibition on the life and times of Anne Frank, the museum acts as an exhibition space to highlight all forms of persecution and discrimination. The house became a popular tourist destination after the publication of Anne Frank's diary during her time in hiding -- called "The Diary of a Young Girl," in English. Inside the house, you can see the space where the family hid for 2 years and 1 month, before being betrayed and captured by the Nazis, and sent to their deaths in concentration camps. It's a must see in Amsterdam.

Drugs are legal everywhere. In the U.S., caffeine, niccotine and alcohol are the major legal drugs. In Amsterdam, I guess most people probably know that some other drugs are legal. And you should know that a coffeeshop in Amsterdam is not so much a coffeeshop as it is a place to sample different types of marijuana. Cheech and Chong's is not as famous as The Bulldog (the first and most spoken-of Amsterdam coffeeshop), and it's not in the red-light district. I guess that's about all there is to say about it, except that... when in Amsterdam... :)
