Why Izmir? And not Istanbul?? | The promenade along the shore is a popular place |
I just returned from a week-long vacation in Izmir, and had a great time. It's such a friendly and relaxed place -- and the weather was great!
Some people found it strange that I take a vacation to Turkey, but skip Istanbul in favor of the third-largest city, Izmir. Well, I've not been to Istanbul yet, but I plan to get there this year or next. I decided on Izmir because I have a friend living there right now, and I didn't have time to go to both.
I also really want to go to Greece. Maybe this fall I can make a trip to Istanbul and Athens.
Finally... and as always... let me know what you think.

And when in Ephesus... ...do as the Ephesians do, and visit the nearby Ephesus Museum. There are lots of pieces removed from the site and placed in the museum. Like this bust of Marcus Aurelius. Check out the quality of this sculpture! | | |

I didnt have a chance to go Ephusus Museum when I had visited Ephusus. I hope I will have a chance to go there and see it some day :) |
