| | Istanbul was the capital city of the Roman Empire (330–395), the East Roman (Byzantine) Empire (395–1204 and 1261–1453), the Latin Empire (1204–1261) and the Ottoman Empire (1453–1922). You can see somethings from those periods at many places. (Some of them are in Unicef world heritage list) The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010. I don't have good photos like your's because Istanbul is our city. I saw there every year many times. I didn't need to take a photo much. But I need to see it every year. I studied university there, they were lovely years. If you have a time look at this page for beautiful photos... http://www.ersineser.us/ http://www.veyselgencten.com/ |

Nice page | balhannah Fri Jan 2, 2009 20:00 UTC Like you, I tend not to take photos much of the area I live in, have to change that now that I'm a vt/er. Love looking at minature villages, must check that one out. Thanks for the tip. | Elena_blue Wed Sep 3, 2008 17:00 UTC Novel Les Désenchantées introduced me to a critical age of transforming of Turkish society. Knowledge leads to understanding and affection. Next time in Istanbul I will follow the steps of Pierre Loti and of his opressed and depressed young heroines. |
