Syria is much better than I expected before. Great history, friendly people, nice foods and sweets.etc.
Syria is exist since neolitik time. Look how complicated history:12.000-4000-Neolitik period, 4000-2000BC-City countries, Egypitans, Hiksoses, Hitites+ Mitanis, Phinicians, Asyrians,Persians, Great Alexander, Selukias, Tigran Armanians,Romans+Bizanthion, Arabians, Umayyads, Abbasids, Hamdanids, Seljuks, crusaders, Ayyubids, Memluks, Ottomans, French and a bit English mandate and independence at 1946. (There can be some mistakes!)
Population is 20 million. Half of it is living in Damascus and Aleppo. (There are 12 cities) %7 Armenian, %4 shiite, %3 Dürzi (druse), %4 Ortodox christian, %14 Nusayri ,%68 Sunni. You can see president Bessar Esat’s (Nusayri) handsome photos at every corners. Baas party is the leader since 1963.
I guess we saw all important parts. St.Samaan citadel (Very close to Turkish “Cilvegözü” border), Aleppo, Apemea, Hama, Hums, Damascus, Bosra, Palmyra, Maalula, Krak des chevaliers, Ugarit and Ebla ancient sites, Tartus, Latakia. There is not much things to see at Tartus and Latakia)
Our Syria route
We travelled 7 days in Syria. I made 7 pages for Syria. I put 7 videos . No no just 3. :-))
