The whole reason I wanted to see <a href="http://home.t-online.de/ho me/m.dg.k/KO.htm">Koblenz</a> was to visit Festung Ehrenbreitstein, a fortress opposite the city and with a view of the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers. I was a bit disappointed. The city is more modern than I thought it would be and the fortress was not open. See the "Must Sees" for details on that excursion. The city is nice for a half day, but unfortunately, I planned a whole day.
