Monument Valley was amazing. We hadn't originally planned on going here, but I am so glad that we did. There is only one trail that you can hike without a Navajo guide (more on that later). You are allowed to do the 17 mile loop around the buttes and rock formations in your own car. Be forewarned...if you don't have 4WD, it will not be a pleasant ride. The road is very rocky and bumpy. We didn't even attempt it. It costs $5/person to enter the park.

enjoyed this and loved your photos. Years since we were there!
I like your tip on the Wildcat Trail, and if I ever go there I'll be sure to wear socks that I don't mind throwing away. Thanks for your nice holiday wishes!
We did a good tour here with a local Navajo guide, but I wish I'd known about that trail - it must be wonderful to walk on your own among those buttes!
You're right on about the road - it's heck on shock absorbers. Also about the red sand - my boots are permanently pink! More great shots, Mandy!
Wonderful!!!
I didn't know there was a trail I could walk! Oh well.
