Still Cool in Spite of the Gringos

by jakelorenzo - last update: Jan 12, 2008

Sure, Puerto Vallarta is overrun with tourists. Across from the Malecon gringos fill bars like Senor Frog's and No Name Bar getting drunk on watery margaritas and listening to incredibly loud, bass blaring music. All the people speak English, hustlers try to drag you into touristy restaurants, and time share felons try to get you to sign up for their spiels. Still, at its core, PV is still a very Mexican City with a colonial feel and one of the great local festivals. And if you are there between November and March, the weather is probably a whole lot better than at home.
