Food

Gujarathi food is often if not always sweet. You could ask for a non-sweetened meal.Pridominantly vegetarian food.
The most famous dishes are Kichdi and Gujarathi kadi:thepla;pathra which is colocassia leaves rolled with spices and steamed or deep fried;Dhokla,Khandwi;no meal is complete without buttermilk or chchasi. The thali or plate meals is delicious here.

Dances

The garba is an amazing dance. The beauty of the dances of gujarath are that most of them are folk dances done in large groups where an entire village or community takes part.the costumes are colourful and aesthetic,so is the accompaning jewellery.

We enjoyed Gujerat - it has quite a different feel to other parts of India. I also loved the mirrorwork textiles- and bought quite a lot of stuff. I am surprised about the alchoholism problem. I thought Gujerat was a 'dry' state?
