The splendid Vadukumnathan Temple at the center of the city is what gives the name to this city. It is the fourth largest city in Kerala. It has many temples that are thronged by pilgrims all over the world. The Vadakumnathan Temple hosts the famous Thrissur Pooram or Festival. The district also houses the famous Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple and The Nelluva Dhanwanthri Temple.

Brass/Bronze City

The city is famous for its brass and bronze metal artifacts and vessels and other items. There are many shops that sell these metal crafts.
