I live in Gilchrist ,Texas,with my husband and children.My husband is an avid fisherman.He has caught many fish the past few months.Spanish mackereal,41 inch Bull red,Shark,Gaft top,Trout,Black Drum,Hard Heads,Sheep head,a very wide variety.He mostley does catch and release.I take the pictures and then he releses them.His hobby is fishing and mine is photography,so we are a good team.I don't fish,however I did catch a 42 inch bull red by accident a few months ago.He walked away from his poles to go get more bait and the pole started bending.I had to do something,so I snagged it and reeled it in.We all love the beach.It is a peacfull place for us to be.Gilchrist is one of the quieter beaches,mostly fishing and family.It is not the party beach.If you are a party person,Crystal beach is where you want to be.

Peaceful !

It doesn't have to be daylight to enjoy the beach.My favorite time is in the evening after the sun goes down and the moon is bright.It just looks like a whole new place.There is a cool breeze,it is quiet.A place where you can gather your thoughts and apprieciate the beauty of the gulf.

Waiting for a snack to swim through

There are a large variety of creatures in the Gulf Coast area.My favorite are the birds.The sea gulls and water crane are not shy and love to take your bait as you are trying to catch it.The kids love to feed them bread or chips.There is a pair of pink flamingos that have made their home here.I have not been able to get their picture yet,but will soon.The pelicans will let you know when bait is running through the area,they will dive into the water to get their snack.

Waiting for the big one!

My husband is a surf fisherman.He baits up his poles,wades out in the water to his chest and cast out.Somedays can be challenging depending on the height of the waves and the current.It is his passion.You will see him out on the beach no matter what the conditions.He calls Gilchrist paradise.

Sunset at Rollover Pass

The sunsets are beautiful!I could never discribe the feeling you get when you see the sunset except, breath taking.The pictures never do justice.You would just have to be here to feel that god has painted this sunset just for you.

My boys love swimming here.They take thier boogie boards down to the water,just about everyday.Sometimes they can catch some really good waves and have a terrific ride.Sometimes the water can be really smooth,perfect for just hanging out.

We had the most gourgous full moon this month.I took this picture in Gilchrist at an abandoned fishing pier.Lots of fisherman surf fishing that night.Their prize for fishing on a full moon,several bull reds were among the catch.Beautiful night!
