My wife and I spent weekend in Basel and still didnt have enough time to see everything. It is a great city with loads of sightseeing spots, brilliant architecture and the friendliest locals ever. It is not the cheapest place in Europe but nor were the prices extortionate like certain other European cities. About 22CHF (£10) for a decent meal, 6-7CHF for a pint of lager (£3).
The transport system is brilliant with trams running frequently around all parts of the city and day passes available for 8CHF (£3.30). But if you stay in a Basel hotel you get a free travel pass. Loads to do and see, loads of pubs and cafes. |
