La Begude is an idyllic French village, off the beaten track and surrounded by beautiful scenery. As you drive in from one side you will see miles of plains of varying colours and crops and drive out the other towards Dieulefit, you are surrounded by dark green mountains and hills that seem to move as the wind blows through their trees. The village is definitely for travellers seeking the real France and a peaceful time. The amenities are basic and consist of a couple of boulangeries, a tabac, 2 bar/cafe/restaurants, 2 mini-markets, a garage and a good sized public, outdoor swimming pool. For more choice the larger town of Dieulefit is about 7km down the road, with a lot more shops, a large supermarket and more swimming pools to cool off in the sweltering summer heat. |
