We climbed Mt. Pulag | Mt. Pulag - VTers at the Summit |
YES we made it ALL 17 to the top of Mt. Pulag after first a tough 3-4 hours hike in rain to Camp 2, sleeping 6 hours in our tents, waking up at 3 am and hiking the last 1-2 hours to the summit with our head lamps. Then it was time to relax and enjoy a fantastic sunrise from "top of the world" - this was definately one of the highlights of my Filipino trip. We really perspired a lot going up the mountain - especially the only European from flat Denmark - and it was so inspiring to be part of this trekking group. We were 6 VT'ers in the group: missmarianne, barbie_sunrise, queenn, jonXXX, kentski11 and OH_DK
It was not a difficult climb - we just followed a trail all the way - but it was very exhausting to carry all the luggage incl. tents, food and cooking stoves up to Camp 2.
If you want to see a funny video of the excited participants right after arriving to the summit and the sunrise then have a look at this link to queenn's video.
After the climb we went down to a little local village "Bashoy" where we donated clothes, schoolbooks/ tools, toys etc. to the locals, and had a fantastic party with them. They served food and rice wine for us, and after that we were playing games with the kids, dancing and playing traditional music - Chin (queenn) and I were chosen to dance the traditional dance!
Great event sponsored by VT. Thanks to Stephanie and VT for sending T-shirts and caps to this event!
You're welcome to have a look at my travelouges and videos too.

| These shoes was on Mt. Pulag |
| | The shoes in the "Perspire to Inspire" group After looking at the shoes here I noticed that I was the only one who had real hiking boots on - most Filipinos just used sports shoes and even 2 with just flip-flops on! ;-) |
