Question...
Did the Eagles ever come to Todos Santos?
Did Don Henley write the song while staying at the Hotel California in Todos Santos, during the hippie heydays of the late 1960's and early 1970's?
I try to find out myself...
We were passing Todos Santos when we came back from La Paz heading back to Cabo San Lucas. I knew that there was the famous "Hotel California" and told my wife to take a stop there. The legend goes that The Eagles wrote their famous song in this hotel. But, this is a legend and difficult to find out if it is true or not. I was talking with the cook of the hotel (in Flemish because he was from Belgium) about this and he told me that even Don Henley didn’t remember that. The rumor was also that that they wrote this song in room 14, although there were only 11 rooms. If I remember fine what they told me was that room 12 and 13 not existed. In the end I left the hotel without knowing the real story.

Later at home, I was doing some research on the pc about this story; I found this website with an investigation on this key question.

I will put a copy of this website on a travelogue as well, just in case they will delete their story...

We only saw the hotel...
When we left the hotel it was already getting dark and had to move on as the road to Cabo San Lucas is dangerous by animals (cows, donkeys, dogs etc...).
So, we didn't see much more from Todos Santos, but we had a nice short time in the hotel. On this way we do not know so much of Todos Santos. Only what we were reading in a folder is our only knowledge.

On my search to the former question I found this as well. It was also a question on lots of people's mouth.

Just what does "colitis" mean? In the song "Hotel California" by the Eagles the first lines are, "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of colitis rising up through the air." I remember I tried looking it up at university library years ago and couldn't find the answer.
