On the Vissersplein... Statues / Monuments Review

Favorite thing: On the Vissersplein (Fisherman's square), you see 'De Eeuwige Toeschouwer' (The Eternal Spectator) and are from the hand of the sculptor Bernhart Vandenberghe. The statue unveiled for public on 24 June 2000. As you can see on our model <a href='http://www.virtualtourist.com/.146008/' target='_blank'> Pollon</a> (Chiara), nice pictures can be taken here ;-)

The Saint Peter and... St Petrus & Paulus Church Review

Favorite thing: The Saint Peter and Paul-Church is the main church of Oostende. The neo-gothic style of the church became a fact after the fire in the former church on 14 August 1896. The architect Delacenserie got inspired of the Cathedral of Cologne. The sculptor Jan Baptist van Wint created the statues on the frontage from the Apostles Peter, Paul and the Virgin Mary.

In Leopold Park, you can... Leopold Park Review

Favorite thing: In Leopold Park, you can admire this beautiful flower clock. It’s flowerbed have a diameter of 9 meters and the big brass pointer (4 meters) covered with gold foil weight 90 kg, the small pointer (3 meters) 70 kg. The clock dates from 1748 and every year the city plant about 15.000 flowers on it. It is a real masterpiece.

Favorite thing: Oostende, also called the “Queen of the Belgium Seaside Resort” offer four beaches; Oosterstrand (Eastern beach), Klein Strand (Small Beach), Groot Strand (Great Beach) or also called Westerstrand (Western Beach), Mariakerkestrand (Mariakerke Beach) and Raversijdestrand (Raversijde Beach). At the beginning of the 9th century was Oostende an unimportant fishing town. Later it became a very important fishing port and nowadays it is one of the most tourist spots on the Belgium coast.
