Mumbai land of Opporunity

Mumbai could be considered to be the dream city for many people, some coming from rural areas and looking for a better life, students coming from many parts of the country looking for break through opportunities and youngsters hoping to realize their dreams on the big screen of Bollywood.

Mumbai is a city with a population of 10 million people, bustling with activity with people from within and outisde India. It is a major entry city for many tourists. This is the reason Mumbai has a truly cosmopolitan population and has made Mumbai a major International city.

One factor that definetly has to be taken into account while travelling anywhere is the weather and int he case of Mumbai, probably even a little bit more than any where because of the monsoon rains. Most of the year, Mumbai's climate is warm and humid. Between November and February, the skies are clear, and the temperature is cooler. From March the temperature becomes warm and humid till mid June, the beginning of monsoon. During monsoon there are torrential rains, sometimes causing the flooding of major roads and streets of Mumbai. The average rainfall which is brought by the south-west monsoon winds in Mumbai is 180 cms. Monsoon ends by the end of September. October is comparatively hot and humid.
I can assure you from my pesonal experience that being in Mumbai during the monsoon is a real experience, just sitting at home ( in my case ) and watching the rain pour day after day. For a tourist who normally visits for a few days and where each day costs time and money, the weather surely has to be well watched. It is better to avoid the monsoon rains to be able to enjoy the city better.
