Traffic: Crossing Roads

In Rome the best place to cross a road is at a pelican crossing. The only problem is, when it shows green man/walk the traffic won't necessarliy stop. When it does show green man/walk you have to step out with purpose, then they will take notice. If you are new to this, do what I did when I first arrived in Rome. Wait for a local to cross the road, and walk over with them. At the end of a week or so you will fee like a natural at crossing roads. This sounds silly but really it isn't.
