Restaurant Name: Cha Cha Cha
A great place for lunch. Spanish spicy food and great Sangeria. Great atmosphere and unusual decor (see photo). Not the place for an intimate dinner, always buzzing with poeple.
Favorite Dish: Skillet Cajun Shrimp

Restaurant Name: Michael Mina
This is one of San Francisco's best (if not the best one...) restaurants. Highly recommended in the Zagat survey and in the Michelin restaurant guide and for a good reason. This is not the place for a casual snack, this is the place for a romantic dinner for that special occasion. Actually, the guy on the next table proposed to his girlfriend (with the help of the waiter...). We took the tasting menu to enjoy as many dishes as possible and we haven't regret it. Everything was amazing! You can either choose a three course fixed price menu or go for a 5 course tasting menu. There is a wide selection of wines. You can add a fixed wine selection to the meal for an extra fee, or you can order wine bottles or glasses from the wine menu.
Favorite Dish: It's hard to pick one dish, there were all so good. Every dish is served as a trio - three variants on the same dish. The flavors are subtle and fresh. The natural flavors of the ingredients are still there but with a unique "twist".

Restaurant Name: Slanted Door
A great experience! This place is usually packed with people, and for a good reason. There is a great selection of dishes each and every one unique to this place. This is not the place for burger and chips... One can see how good the place is just watching the bartenders. Only fresh and natural ingredients are used.

Nemorino Mon May 12, 2008 15:41 UTC Your tips and travelogues bring back memories of my time in this area in the 1960s, especially your Haight-Ashbury travelogue. Actually I lived and worked in Berkeley, but often went over to San Francisco. | SLLiew Sat Jul 21, 2007 09:04 UTC SF has wonderful restaurants. I also went to Chinatown often and visited St. Mary Church with the unique modernistic architecture. Nice page. | Easty Sun Sep 7, 2003 00:27 UTC Great SF Page.
