| | There aren't too many tourist attraction in Tel-Aviv. Most tourists just use it as a base to go to Jerusalem, Nazarareth, etc. Anyway, this is the place to be when night falls. You can find people going out to dine, dance, etc. all night long, 7 days a week. This is where most of the restaurants, cafés, theatres, cinemas, dance clubs, jazz clubs and pubs are located. Another major atraction is the beach. Most of the major hotels are located right on the beach and it's easily accessible from anywhere in the city. Most of the city centre was built in the 20's and 30's. There are a lot of houses built in the 'Bauhaus' style, like the one above. Notice the three figures in the balcony, this is actually a statue. |
One of the most beautiful (and weird...) houses of Tel-Aviv is the Pagoda House, being renovated now after years of neglect. This is a fine example for the preocess of renovating the old houses of the 20's, 30's and 40's. After decades of neglection, nowadays there is an effort to bring these houses back to their original glory. There is still a long way to go, but this is a start. So, when walking in Tel-Aviv do not expect glorious sites, like Jerusalem for example. This is a place for people who just enjoy wandering around looking for little gems while not being intimidated by some neglection and a touch of real, untouristic, life. This is one of the places you either love or hate. Personally, I can walk for hours in these streets, some other people form Israel would try to avoid even entering Tel-Aviv. | | |
